Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on securing a £30 million deal for Brian Brobbey, an alternative to current striker  Gabriel Jesus.

This pursuit aligns with the broader strategy by Arteta and sporting director Edu to bolster the squad ahead of the next Premier League season.Netherlands Striker Brian Brobbey

Arsenal is in the market for a new number nine to enhance their attacking options.

The club’s current top scorers, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz, amassed a total of 51 goals last season, but Arteta remains eager to add a natural striker to the roster. The Gunners have explored several potential signings, including Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. They also attempted to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, but the Slovenian opted to renew his contract with Leipzig instead.

With Sesko off the table, Edu has shifted focus to other targets, prominently featuring Ajax’s Brian Brobbey. The 22-year-old forward had an impressive season in the Eredivisie, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists, earning him a spot in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024. This stellar performance has not only caught Arteta’s eye but also attracted interest from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

Brobbey’s estimated transfer fee of £30 million is considered a potential bargain given his recent form and capabilities. His pace and strength make him a formidable opponent for defenders, as highlighted by former striker Pierre van Hooijdonk, who praised Brobbey’s performance against PSV Eindhoven in the KNVB Cup final.

As Arsenal and Manchester United prepare for a possible bidding war over Brobbey, the young striker’s future remains uncertain. However, his addition to either Premier League side could significantly impact their offensive strategies in the upcoming season.
