AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin has decided not to continue with his plan to purchase the financially troubled Everton Football Club.
This decision comes nearly a month after he began exclusive negotiations to acquire a majority stake in the Premier League team.
Both Everton’s majority shareholder, Blue Heaven Holdings Ltd., and The Friedkin Group, which owns Serie A’s AS Roma and AS Cannes in France, mutually agreed it was in their best interests to seek alternative options. This information was confirmed in a statement on Everton’s website.
The potential deal had been under consideration since early June, following the collapse of earlier exclusive talks between Everton’s owner, Farhad Moshiri, and Miami-based investor 777 Partners LLC. Despite the end of these acquisition talks, The Friedkin Group will remain a lender to Everton.
