The Wisconsin Badgers basketball program will miss out on one of their top 2025 recruiting targets, as Amari Allen, a four-star forward, announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday.

Standing at 6’7” and weighing 180 pounds, Allen had been a priority for Wisconsin’s head coach Greg Gard. He had previously visited Wisconsin unofficially during the summer and received an offer in July. Allen was expected to visit Wisconsin again this weekend, during the football team’s game against Alabama. However, his decision to commit to the Crimson Tide cancels that plan.

Allen’s recruitment picked up steam following his official visit to Alabama at the end of August, and he becomes Alabama’s first commit for their 2025 class. Originally from Wisconsin, Allen had transferred from IMG Academy to Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay ahead of the 2024 season. His move solidified his status as one of the top two players in the state for his class.

Allen would have been a key addition to Wisconsin’s 2025 class, joining four-star guard Zach Kinziger, three-star center Will Garlock, and New Zealand guard Hayden Jones. Now, the Badgers must shift their recruiting efforts elsewhere.
