Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Westham United are interested in the England forward.
Brentford Football Club has made a significant move ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window by drastically reducing the asking price for their star striker, Ivan Toney, who is set to become a free agent in 2025.
Since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League in 2021, Toney has emerged as one of the most lethal and coveted forwards in English football.
Despite facing a suspension at the beginning of the season due to breaching betting regulations, the 28-year-old has bounced back to notch four goals in 13 appearances for Brentford, earning a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad last month.
However, Toney’s future at the club remains uncertain, with Arsenal and Chelsea expressing strong interest in the striker during the January transfer window. Both London clubs are expected to intensify their pursuit of Toney at the end of the season.
Manchester United and West Ham are also monitoring Toney’s situation closely and could enter the race for his signature, given his contract is nearing its final 12 months.
With the prospect of Toney leaving for free in 2025, Brentford has reluctantly acknowledged the possibility of losing their prized asset and has set a price tag of £30-40 million, as reported by Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.
Arsenal’s previous transfer dealings, such as the £45 million acquisition of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in 2022, serve as a potential blueprint for negotiations with Brentford over Toney’s transfer fee.
Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet in February, Brentford head coach Frank conceded that it’s likely Toney’s final season at the club, indicating that:
the “really skilled” striker will “probably be sold” in the summer.
‘We also know what he is worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.
He is a really skilled striker who is in his prime football age.
‘Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney but one day it could be fun to see him on a top team.
‘This winter we actually had no offers for him, but it will surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs that will be interested in him.’
