Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin was spotted at the club’s training ground, Finch Farm, on July 8, 2024, despite ongoing rumors about his potential departure this summer.

Everton’s official social media accounts shared images on July 7, showcasing several players, including Calvert-Lewin, as they resumed preseason training in preparation for the upcoming season. This sighting comes amidst strong speculation that the 27-year-old striker has turned down a new contract offer from Everton, fueling talks of a possible transfer to Newcastle United.

Having spent eight seasons at Goodison Park, Calvert-Lewin has experienced a mix of highs and lows. Injuries have often hampered his performance, preventing him from consistently reaching the peak form he displayed under former manager Carlo Ancelotti. However, last season saw him largely injury-free, allowing him to regain some of his best form towards the end of the campaign. He scored seven Premier League goals, including a crucial one in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

With just one year remaining on his contract, Everton faces a critical decision regarding Calvert-Lewin’s future. The club must weigh the benefits of selling him now to generate funds for potential replacements against the challenge of finding a striker of similar or superior quality, which is not a cheap endeavor. Currently, Beto remains the only senior striker option available for manager Sean Dyche, should Calvert-Lewin leave.

Despite the speculation, Calvert-Lewin has demonstrated professionalism by attending training sessions. His desire to possibly move to Newcastle United has not deterred his commitment to his current responsibilities at Everton.
