Celtic’s summer transfer activity, or rather the lack of it, has left many fans disappointed.

However, with the transfer window nearing its end, there’s hope for some significant moves. The latest reports link Celtic to Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, a 20-year-old who joined the Saints from Manchester City for just over £10m a year ago.

Charles, who developed at City and won five English league titles at under-18 and under-21 levels, played 38 games last season, helping Southampton secure Premier League promotion.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic is considering a loan deal with an option to buy for Charles.

The deal might involve Matt O’Riley moving in the opposite direction, although Charles is a holding midfielder and not a direct replacement for O’Riley. Given Charles’ potential, Brendan Rodgers may need to manage his midfield options, especially with the expected permanent arrival of Paulo Bernardo.
