Charlie Woods, son of the legendary golfer Tiger Woods, claimed victory at the US Junior Amateur qualifier in Florida.

This triumph sets the stage for his participation in the US Junior Amateur Championship next month at Oakland Hills Country Club.

Charlie, who recently supported his father at the US Open, delivered an impressive one-under 71 at Eagle Trace Golf Club, edging out 75 competitors by just one stroke. This win propels him to compete against 263 of the finest young golfers, with the top 64 advancing to the match play rounds.

The ultimate champion of this event will secure a spot in the prestigious 2025 US Open at Oakmont.

Despite a rocky start with bogeys on the 3rd and 10th holes, Charlie demonstrated resilience and skill, finishing strong with three birdies on the back nine.

Reflecting on his performance, the 15-year-old said, “I didn’t play great my first two holes, but I played really good for the last 16.” His focus and determination were evident as he aimed to avoid further mistakes and capitalized on birdie opportunities.

Expressing his ambitions, Charlie stated, “The USGA means a lot to me. I want to win USGA championships and hopefully one day the US Open.” His success at the Florida qualifier is a step toward carving his own legacy in golf, following in the footsteps of his illustrious father.

Jeff Judge, the Junior Amateur chairman and former president of Oakland Hills, expressed his excitement for the upcoming championship, looking forward to witnessing the next generation of golf stars. He anticipates a fierce competition at the historic Oakland Hills, a venue renowned for hosting major golf events.

Charlie’s recent performances have showcased his potential. Earlier attempts to qualify for the US Open saw him fall short, but his perseverance is paying off. He has already made a mark by winning a state high school championship and competing in various tournaments, including the 2023 PNC Championship alongside his father, where they finished fifth.

As Charlie prepares for the US Junior Amateur Championship, he carries the hopes and expectations of continuing the Woods legacy in golf. His journey so far reflects not only his talent but also the influence and support of his father, Tiger Woods, who has been instrumental in guiding and coaching him.

This victory marks an important milestone for Charlie Woods, setting the stage for what could be a promising career in golf. The upcoming championship at Oakland Hills will be a crucial test of his abilities and determination to succeed at the highest levels of the sport.
