Chelsea has commenced the process of identifying potential successors for Mauricio Pochettino, as reported recently.

Even as they salvaged a draw against Brentford over the weekend, Chelsea’s turbulent season persists, with the club languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

With Todd Boehly’s continued support for Pochettino, the future of the Argentine still remains uncertain, given the Blues’ struggles in his second season under American ownership.

While the club’s hierarchy plans to evaluate Pochettino’s performance at the end of the season, they are preemptively exploring options for a new manager.

The Guardian suggests that Ruben Amorim of Sporting and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton are among the top candidates to potentially lead Chelsea in the upcoming season.

Pochettino’s appointment initially symbolized a new chapter for Chelsea under Boehly’s ownership, following a tumultuous transition from Roman Abramovic’s era. However, the team’s performance has not significantly improved, despite significant investments.

Although there are reports indicating some belief that Chelsea is progressing positively under Pochettino’s guidance and that he still enjoys support from the players, a managerial change is still a possibility.

Amorim, known for his success with Sporting in Portugal, and De Zerbi, praised for his work at Brighton, are both being considered as potential replacements.

Amorim’s achievements include leading Sporting to the Portuguese title and maintaining a strong position in the Primeira Liga this season. De Zerbi, on the other hand, has garnered attention for his impressive performance with Brighton, which includes leading the team into the knockout stages of a European competition for the first time in their history.

As De Zerbi’s future at Brighton remains uncertain, with interest from Barcelona also in the mix, Chelsea could be considering him as a viable option for their managerial role.
