Chelsea FC has swiftly recalled goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom from his loan at IF Brommapojkarna as the club gears up for its pre-season preparations under new manager Enzo Maresca.

This decision underscores Chelsea’s proactive approach to strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The Blues are determined to provide Maresca, who recently celebrated winning the Sky Bet Championship title with Leicester City, with a robust squad.

This includes finalizing the free transfer of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, a player coveted by several top Premier League teams. Amidst this, the club is also evaluating the future roles of its young talents.

One significant talking point has been the fate of Andrey Santos, with discussions around whether he should spend another season on loan at Strasbourg.

Similarly, Lucas Bergstrom was initially set for a full year with Brommapojkarna. However, the Scandinavian club has confirmed Chelsea’s decision to recall him ahead of their pre-season tour in America.

Bergstrom, described as ‘very promising,’ had several opportunities to train with the first team under former manager Graham Potter. Despite his potential, his path to securing a regular spot remains uncertain.

This move reflects the broader uncertainty surrounding Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation. With the season opener against Manchester City approaching, it’s still unclear who will be the starting goalkeeper.

Djordje Petrovic was notably praised by Maresca during his job interview, yet current indications suggest the new manager might lean towards working with Robert Sanchez.

This summer’s pre-season will be crucial for determining the final lineup and addressing the club’s goalkeeper conundrum.

Chelsea fans will be eagerly watching to see how these decisions unfold as the team prepares for a competitive season ahead.
