Chelsea has secured Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for a transfer fee of €35 million (£30 million).
The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a six-year contract with the Blues, reuniting with his former manager Enzo Maresca, who recently took over at Stamford Bridge.
Dewsbury-Hall’s move is a significant boost for Chelsea, as they aim to strengthen their squad under Maresca’s leadership.
The transfer also benefits Leicester City financially, helping them comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations. Since Dewsbury-Hall came through Leicester’s youth system, the transfer fee is considered pure profit for the Foxes.
During his tenure at Leicester, Dewsbury-Hall made 120 appearances and scored 17 goals, with 12 of those goals coming last season as the club achieved promotion to the Premier League.
Reflecting on his departure, Dewsbury-Hall expressed his gratitude and emotional connection to Leicester on Instagram, highlighting the memorable moments and friendships he forged over 17 years with the club.
“When we were relegated in the 22/23 season, I felt personally responsible. I made it my goal to ensure we got back to the Premier League within the first season,” he shared. “I’m very proud of what we achieved together last season – creating memories of a lifetime for us all.”
As Leicester looks to the future, it is reported that they are interested in signing Chelsea’s Michael Golding in a separate deal, potentially adding another dynamic to the ongoing transfer activities between the two clubs.
