In the competitive race for the Premier League title, Liverpool finds itself neck and neck with Arsenal on points but lagging behind due to goal difference.

Chris Sutton, a former Premier League forward, expressed concerns that Liverpool’s chances might be jeopardized by one player’s form.

Sutton pinpointed Mohamed Salah, who, since returning from a hamstring injury, hasn’t displayed his usual sharpness in front of the goal.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton highlighted Salah’s uncharacteristic performance as a potential liability for Liverpool’s title ambitions.

“Mohamed Salah has not been at his sharpest since he has come back from injury—he has been missing chances that you expect him to put away.”

Sutton remarked ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace. This insight casts a shadow over Liverpool’s readiness as they prepare to face a Crystal Palace team struggling with its own set of challenges, having not secured a win in their last five matches.

Adding to Liverpool’s concerns, their recent 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League underscored defensive vulnerabilities that need immediate attention.

Atalanta’s Gianluca Scamacca and Mario Pasalic exploited these weaknesses, leaving Liverpool’s European dreams hanging by a thread.

The Reds generated only three significant scoring chances compared to Atalanta’s seven, revealing a substantial gap in match control and execution.

As Liverpool gears up to face Crystal Palace, the pressure is on to refine their defensive strategies and restore Salah’s goal-scoring form to keep their Premier League title hopes alive and rebound in their European campaign.
