In response to a devastating injury to their defensive captain Brandon Graham, the Philadelphia Eagles acted swiftly, signing defensive end K.J. Henry to their practice squad within 24 hours.

The move aims to strengthen the team’s defensive line after Graham tore his biceps during Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. Graham, the longest-tenured player in franchise history, had previously announced that 2024 would be his final season, making the injury particularly disheartening for fans.

K.J. Henry, a 2023 fifth-round draft pick by the Washington Commanders, was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys but was waived last week.

The Clemson alumnus has recorded 2.5 sacks over 14 NFL games. His addition to Philadelphia’s practice squad suggests further adjustments might be on the horizon, such as potentially elevating Tarron Jackson, who has a single sack in three seasons.

Philadelphia’s defensive line has faced a series of setbacks, including Bryce Huff’s placement on injured reserve with a wrist injury. Henry’s signing underscores the Eagles’ efforts to maintain their top-ranked defense amidst these challenges, though questions remain about adequately replacing a legendary figure like Graham.
