The Dallas Cowboys’ quiet period during free agency has heightened the anticipation for a strong performance in the upcoming NFL draft.

Historically adept at drafting talent, the Cowboys are facing a crucial year to bounce back from a less than stellar draft in 2023.

With distinct needs across various positions and only seven draft picks in their arsenal, the pressure is on for them to make strategic selections.

In addressing one of their most glaring needs, the linebacker position, the Cowboys have been proactive in evaluating potential recruits.

They notably hosted a visit with Junior Colson, a distinguished linebacker from the Michigan Wolverines, signaling their interest.

Colson, who celebrated this milestone on social media, stands at 6’2″ and weighs 238 pounds, and has been a key player in Michigan’s defense, accumulating 256 total tackles over 36 starts in three years.

His contributions were vital in Michigan’s three College Football Playoff appearances and their recent national championship win.

Colson’s prowess as a “bonafide run-stopper” has earned him high praise and positioned him as a leading linebacker prospect in the draft, with expectations of being selected on Day 2.

Should he be available at the 56th overall pick, the Cowboys might see him as the ideal candidate to fill a significant void in their lineup.

Despite acquiring Eric Kendricks during the free agency, the need for a robust linebacker remains pressing for Dallas, especially to improve their run defense which has been a weak point.

Colson’s skills as a run defender make him an appealing option for the Cowboys, indicating a potentially strategic pick to enhance their defensive strength in the upcoming season.
