The Detroit Lions are reportedly exploring a high-profile trade following the devastating injury to star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.

Hutchinson, a key component of the team’s defensive success, suffered a season-ending injury on October 13, 2024, during a game against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Now in their sixth week of the season, the Lions are aiming to sustain their momentum as a Super Bowl contender, making the search for his replacement a top priority.

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Lions have identified Pro Bowl linebacker Haason Reddick as a potential trade target. Though Reddick currently plays for the New York Jets, Detroit has reached out to explore a deal for the talented pass-rusher.

Fowler noted that this move could be part of the Lions’ due diligence, with head coach Dan Campbell emphasizing the importance of General Manager Brad Holmes leaving no stone unturned.

Reddick, known for his disruptive play, could be an excellent fit for Detroit’s defense. While not a direct replacement for Hutchinson, Reddick’s proven ability to pressure quarterbacks makes him an ideal candidate. However, the Jets are reportedly seeking at least a third-round pick, which could present a challenge for the Lions.

Given the Jets’ recent trade activity, they may be open to parting with Reddick, especially if they believe his future lies elsewhere. For the Lions, acquiring him could significantly bolster their Super Bowl hopes by strengthening their defensive front.

With the trade deadline approaching, Detroit’s management is working quickly to finalize a deal that could shape the remainder of their season.
