Novak Djokovic praised Andy Murray after the latter’s thrilling victory in the men’s doubles event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, delaying his retirement.

Teaming up with Dan Evans, Murray saved five match points against Japan’s Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel, continuing his career a bit longer.

Djokovic, who observed the comeback, called it “incredible” and expressed admiration for Murray’s resilience despite injuries and setbacks, including a hip replacement.

Murray, who plans to retire after the Olympics, shared his gratitude on Instagram, posting nostalgic photos with Djokovic and thanking him for their long rivalry. Djokovic responded humorously, declining the “lover” tag but lauded Murray’s legendary career.

The two, fierce competitors since their junior days, have faced each other 36 times, with Murray set to join Roger Federer in retirement. This moment underscores the end of an era in tennis, marked by the camaraderie and mutual respect between these iconic players.
