The Philadelphia Eagles’ stellar season faced a setback on Sunday night when veteran edge rusher Brandon Graham tore his triceps, ending his season.
The 36-year-old, who has spent his entire 15-year NFL career with the Eagles, admitted that this injury could mark the end of his career.
Speaking after the Eagles’ win in Los Angeles, Graham said he hopes to continue playing but acknowledged the situation “is pointing towards” retirement.
While Graham maintained his composure when addressing reporters postgame, he broke down during a radio interview on Tuesday. Speaking on WIP radio in Philadelphia, Graham reflected on his journey, expressing gratitude while admitting the injury hit him hard emotionally.
“I’m hurting a little bit, man. For the 15 years I’ve been here, with people doubting me, this was a big one for me. I think I accomplished a lot this year,” he shared, adding, “I know it’s God’s plan. I’m trusting it.”
A key figure in the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory in 2018, Graham was selected 13th overall in 2010 and made his lone Pro Bowl appearance in 2020. Despite setbacks, he enjoyed a career resurgence in 2022, recording 11 sacks and finishing fourth in Comeback Player of the Year voting.
Graham, however, said he feels “content” if Sunday marked his final game, though he still hopes to return to the field.
