Emma Raducanu has climbed 16 places in this week’s WTA rankings, positioning herself at No. 54 and nearing the top-50 for the first time in over two years.

Last week, the 21-year-old was ranked No. 70, but her quarterfinal appearance at the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul boosted her ranking significantly.

At the beginning of the season, Raducanu was ranked just outside the top-300 as she embarked on her post-surgery comeback. Since then, her rise has been remarkable, and she is expected to continue climbing the rankings since she has no points to defend for the remainder of the year.

Raducanu was originally scheduled to compete at the WTA 1000 event in Beijing this week. However, an ongoing foot injury forced her to withdraw. Had she been able to compete and secured even one victory, she likely would have broken back into the top-50 for the first time since September 2022.

Despite this setback, Raducanu’s rise seems inevitable. Her two wins in Seoul were pivotal, including a tough first-round match against Peyton Stearns and a second-round victory over No. 8 seed Yuan Yue.

Unfortunately, her run ended due to a foot injury that forced her to retire against Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals. Nonetheless, her steady progress is expected to continue as she recovers.
