Leicester City has confirmed the acquisition of 18-year-old midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea, marking a significant addition to their squad.
Golding, an England youth international, has penned a four-year contract with the Foxes.
Golding has made a name for himself through standout performances with Chelsea’s Under-18 and Under-21 teams. Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Golding said:
“I’m really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career here at Leicester and working hard to help the team as much as I can.”
He also highlighted the club’s storied history and the quality of its players, noting his eagerness to learn from both senior players and coaching staff.
Hailing from Kingston, Golding joined Chelsea at 12 from AFC Wimbledon. He made his senior debut in January 2024 during an FA Cup match against Preston. On the international stage, Golding has represented England at various youth levels, including the Under-16, Under-17, and Under-18 teams. He captained England at the UEFA Under-17 European Championships and played in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2023.
Golding’s versatility allows him to excel in both attacking and central midfield positions. He is set to join his new teammates at Seagrave on Monday as Leicester City kicks off their pre-season training.
