Everton has been closely monitoring Winsley Boteli, a highly-rated young striker currently playing for Borussia Monchengladbach’s youth team.

Boteli, who turned 18 today, has caught the attention of several clubs due to his impressive performance, particularly as the top scorer for Gladbach II last season.

Despite Everton’s interest, it was Manchester United that made a strong push to sign him. However, Boteli made headlines on Thursday by rejecting their offer.

According to German daily Bild, Boteli turned down Manchester United following the advice of his father. His father insisted that he should remain in Germany to continue his development.

As a result, Boteli has decided to commit his future to Borussia Monchengladbach by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. This decision reflects his determination to prove himself to the senior team coach, Gerardo Seoane, during the upcoming pre-season training, which begins on July 10th.

Boteli’s choice underscores the significant influence of parental guidance in the career decisions of young athletes. He now looks forward to making an impact at the senior level and justifying his decision to stay in Germany, hoping it will lead to further development and opportunities in his burgeoning career.
