Everton has officially secured the signing of Omari Benjamin, a former Arsenal striker, to bolster their under-21 squad.
The 18-year-old has inked a three-year contract following his departure from Arsenal at the conclusion of last season. Benjamin previously had a trial stint with Everton during the 2023-24 campaign, where he made a significant impact by scoring in a 2-1 victory against Tottenham, the eventual Premier League 2 champions.
The young forward has also represented Wales at the under-19 level, demonstrating his potential on the international stage.
Reflecting on his move to Everton, Benjamin expressed his enthusiasm on the club’s official website:
“This is a really exciting opportunity for me. I’m keen to show what I can do on the pitch and excited at what is to come at Everton. When I came here on trial, the boys and staff were really nice, there was a good feel to the club, and everyone was very welcoming, which made it easy to sign here.”
Benjamin described himself as an “exciting forward who likes to drive at opponents and score goals,” and is eager to make his mark this season. He aspires to eventually break into the senior team and contribute significantly to Everton’s success.
Gareth Prosser, Everton’s director of the academy, welcomed Benjamin, acknowledging the effort required to bring him to Finch Farm amidst competition from other clubs.
“Omari has a lot of talent, and we look forward to working with him to help fulfil his undoubted potential,” Prosser stated.
With this addition, Everton aims to further strengthen their youth setup and cultivate future talent for their senior team.
