Benfica’s midfielder Florentino Luis is reportedly tempted by a move to Everton this summer, according to O Jogo.

Although no negotiations have commenced, the Portuguese talent could find himself at Goodison Park if things proceed. However, Everton is not the only club interested in Luis; Fulham and Leicester City are also keen on securing his services, meaning Everton’s manager Sean Dyche will likely face stiff competition.

Florentino Luis would be a valuable addition to Everton’s squad, which currently includes James Garner and Amadou Onana as options in defensive midfield.

The potential departure of Onana, who has been linked with a move away throughout the summer, makes Luis an even more crucial target. Should Onana remain at Everton, Luis’ presence would enhance the squad’s depth and provide healthy competition for the starting position.

Everton’s first team is relatively strong, but the club struggles with squad depth, particularly when dealing with injuries or suspensions. Adding Luis, a young and promising player, would bolster their midfield significantly. At Benfica, Luis made 45 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers. His development at Everton could mirror that of Onana, who has blossomed since joining the club.

Benfica values Luis at £34 million, a fee that seems reasonable for a player of his caliber and potential. This investment could prove beneficial for Everton, providing both immediate impact and long-term growth for their midfield.

Everton are in search of Calvert-Lewin Replacement

In related news, Everton is also exploring options to replace striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, should he depart this summer. The club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season, aiming to improve its overall performance and resilience.
