Everton are reportedly preparing to make a formal offer for Atletico-MG striker Alisson, according to Goal Brazil.

The 18-year-old forward, who can also operate on the wings, has a release clause set at £51.2 million for foreign clubs. The Brazilian club is expecting a bid from Everton in the coming days.

While Alisson’s potential is evident, Everton’s decision to pursue such an expensive acquisition raises questions, especially given their financial situation. With the club under scrutiny for its spending, a £50 million+ investment in a young, unproven talent could be seen as risky.

Everton have already strengthened their attacking options this summer by signing Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom. However, their pressing need for a defender remains unresolved.

Adding Alisson might provide depth in the forward line, but it may not immediately bolster the first team. A more prudent approach could be investing in a seasoned defender or midfielder to address the team’s tactical needs and ensure competitiveness in the Premier League.

Unless Atletico-MG significantly lowers their asking price, this transfer may not materialize.
