Everton are actively pursuing Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra and are working behind the scenes to secure his transfer to Goodison Park, according to L’Equipe.

The report from Monday (29 July) indicates that Sean Dyche’s team might submit an offer for the 20-year-old soon as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Despite Everton’s long-standing interest in Diarra, Strasbourg is hesitant to let the midfielder go this summer. However, Diarra’s personal stance on a transfer could be crucial in determining whether he moves to the Premier League.

Everton fans may be surprised by the club’s activity early in the transfer window, with significant additions already being made to the squad.

Diarra’s versatility allows him to play across the midfield, including as a number eight or a winger, which could provide much-needed depth for Everton, who have previously relied heavily on players like Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil.

While convincing Strasbourg to part with Diarra will be challenging, especially given the French club’s reluctance, Everton’s financial constraints due to recent issues might also complicate the deal.

Additionally, Jake O’Brien has reportedly arrived in Merseyside for his medical ahead of a summer transfer to Goodison Park.
