Renowned Italian sport Journalist Fabrizio Romano speaks on Marc Cucurella’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Fabrizio Romano asserts that one Chelsea player’s future will be evaluated post-season.

He informed Caught Offside that Marc Cucurella, a defender, awaits clarification on his role in Stamford Bridge’s forthcoming plans.

Despite his £62m transfer in 2022, Cucurella’s impact has fallen short, compounded by frequent injuries, leaving him absent from the Blues’ 2024 matches.

Such uncertainty is heightened by his recent return from a severe injury. Romano suggests Cucurella’s fate may hinge on Chelsea’s future developments, hinting at a potential departure come season end.

The Chelsea left-back has been linked with a return to La Liga.

“My understanding is that he is one of the situations to be assessed at the end of the season.

“Cucurella, Chalobah and more…these players are waiting to see what Chelsea decide to do in terms of project, tactical plans for next season, the manager situation.”

The left-back position is expected to undergo significant changes by the end of the season, potentially involving Ian Maatsen’s transfer.

Maatsen, currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, is experiencing a peak in his football career. Despite showing promise in pre-season, it’s surprising that he didn’t receive more chances under Mauricio Pochettino, especially considering the manager’s decision regarding Lewis Hall, who is on loan with a purchase obligation at Newcastle United.
