Nottingham Forest is reportedly set to pursue a transfer for Fiorentina winger Nicolas Gonzalez, with the club keen to bolster its options in wide areas ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

According to Argentinian outlet Ole, Forest is preparing to make a formal offer for Gonzalez in the coming days, as head coach Nuno Espirito Santo continues to focus on strengthening the team’s flanks.

This potential move follows the recent signing of Jota Silva from Vitoria Guimarães, signaling Forest’s intent to reinforce their squad.

Gonzalez, a 26-year-old Argentine international, enjoyed a successful season with Fiorentina, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists. His performances have attracted interest from top clubs, including Juventus and Atalanta, both of whom are reportedly keen to secure his services.

Gonzalez’s style of play has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, with former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchinson praising his potential to reach “unbelievably high levels.” Forest’s pursuit of Gonzalez aligns with their broader ambitions to improve their standing in the Premier League after two seasons of battling relegation.

With Nuno at the helm and further signings expected, there is cautious optimism at the City Ground for the season ahead.
