Terrance Howard, a former walk-on cornerback for the Alabama football team, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle in North Carolina.
Howard, who originally joined Alabama under coach Nick Saban for the 2023 season, transferred from Missouri City, Texas, to North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in May after entering the transfer portal in April.
According to a report from KPRC-TV, Howard was involved in a minor traffic accident on Interstate 85 near Salisbury, North Carolina. After the collision, he exited his vehicle to check on the occupants of the other car involved. Despite ensuring their safety, Howard was fatally struck by another passing vehicle.
The incident occurred on Monday, and Howard succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. Howard’s family has received support from both NCCU and Alabama, with Nick Saban personally reaching out to offer his condolences.
The loss has resonated deeply within both football programs and the wider community.
