Reggie Ragland, a former University of Alabama linebacker and two-time National Champion, has responded to allegations claiming he received payments while playing college football.

Ragland, who played for Alabama from 2012 to 2015, addressed the accusation after it surfaced on social media.

The claims were made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) directed at the linebacker, stating:

“Bama players been getting paid handsomely for decades. Don’t be greedy.” Ragland did not hesitate to refute the allegation, firmly responding, “I didn’t get paid.”

Ragland’s comments come at a time when many former college athletes are reflecting on the opportunities presented by the NCAA’s current Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules. These rules allow student-athletes to profit from endorsements, something that was prohibited during Ragland’s collegiate career.

Although the NIL era has sparked conversations about missed financial opportunities for past players, Ragland made it clear that no such payments occurred during his time with the Crimson Tide.

His statement underscores the ongoing debates about compensation in college sports and the fairness of the NCAA’s evolving regulations.
