The roster for the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has been finalized with the addition of former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.
Matsuyama fills the vacancy left by Tyrrell Hatton, who recently joined the LIV Golf tour for a reported £50 million ($63 million).
The 32-year-old Japanese golfer, who has nine PGA Tour victories, including the 2021 Masters, will compete for McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf team. Matsuyama’s teammates will include Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley.
TGL, owned by TMRW Sports Group, will debut its innovative golf format on January 7, 2025, broadcast on ESPN. The league will feature 24 PGA Tour stars, including 10 of the top 15 ranked players globally, competing at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The launch was postponed by a year due to a structural collapse caused by a power outage, but no injuries were reported.
The league’s line-up also features notable names such as Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods, and Collin Morikawa among others, spread across six teams. TGL aims to blend traditional golf with modern technology to create an interactive experience for fans.
This exciting new venture promises to redefine golf entertainment, offering a dynamic and engaging platform for both players and spectators.
