Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continues to shine, inching closer to making history with a three-hit performance in the team’s 3-2 loss to the Rays.

This effort brings Guerrero’s season total to a career-high 191 hits, leaving him just shy of joining an elite group of Blue Jays players to reach 200 hits in a single season. Only five others have achieved this feat, with Vernon Wells holding the franchise record at 215 hits in 2003. With seven games left in the season, Guerrero has a legitimate chance to join this exclusive club.

Guerrero’s 20th three-hit game of the season tied him for the most in the majors alongside Bobby Witt Jr. His latest hits came off different pitch types, showcasing his ability to adjust at the plate. Guerrero has been on fire since the All-Star break, leading MLB with 83 hits and maintaining a .386 average over 56 games. He also recently reached 30 home runs for the season and is just one RBI away from 100.

Teammates and manager John Schneider have been vocal about their excitement for Guerrero, with Schneider noting how special a 200-hit season would be.
