Leeds United are keen to secure the services of Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle this summer.
After selling Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur for around £40 million, Leeds are in need of reinforcements at right-back. Although the return of Connor Roberts on a permanent deal remains a possibility, Leeds are exploring various options to strengthen their defense.
According to the Daily Mirror, Sheffield United are demanding a fee of approximately £7 million for Bogle, who has one year left on his current contract. Leeds have already submitted an offer for the 23-year-old defender, but it did not meet Sheffield United’s valuation. Currently, the two clubs are at an impasse regarding the transfer.
Rasmus Kristensen has returned to Elland Road, but he is not part of manager Daniel Farke’s plans. German club Eintracht Frankfurt is considering a move for Kristensen and are in direct talks with Leeds over a potential deal.
The right-back position at Leeds is currently problematic, with Kristensen expected to leave. Following the departures of Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton, Farke may need to sign two right-backs before the transfer window closes. Last season, Leeds relied on loan deals for Roberts and Djed Spence, and they may pursue another loan signing, ideally someone with Premier League experience.
While Bogle, with only a year remaining on his contract, could be seen as an overpriced option at £7 million, he fits well into Farke’s system. Young and experienced, Bogle has significant potential for development. However, the high transfer fee could compel Leeds to look for more cost-effective alternatives to address their defensive needs.
