An in-state prospect has flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn, as confirmed by Bama247.
Four-star athlete Derick Smith is the latest to join the ranks of the in-state rival, following in the footsteps of four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman from Saraland, Alabama.
Coleman announced his decision on Saturday night after attending Auburn’s annual ‘Big Cat Weekend’ event.
Smith, originally one of the first 2025 commitments for Alabama’s head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff, committed in March. Hailing from Selma, Alabama, Smith had visited Tuscaloosa in February and chose Alabama over numerous other SEC schools.
Initially set to play safety for the Crimson Tide, the versatile 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete is now expected to play receiver for the Auburn Tigers.
