Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on the injury status of several players ahead of Monday night Premier League encounter with Everton.
While Ben Chilwell is nearing a return to training after a season marred by injuries, Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged fresh injury concerns for Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi.
Ben Chiwell’s update
Chilwell’s availability has been limited this season due to various injuries, with the left-back making only one brief substitute appearance since early March. Pochettino expressed disappointment at Chilwell’s lack of regular involvement but remains optimistic about his potential participation against Everton.
Speaking on Chilwell’s progress, Pochettino stated:
“Chilly is in partial training with the team today, and we will see if he can be in the squad on the bench for Monday. It is good news, but he has not played too much this season.”
Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi uncertainty.
Fernandez and Disasi have been receiving treatment at Cobham this week, raising doubts about their availability for the upcoming fixture.
Pochettino mentioned, “Enzo and Axel are under assessment. We don’t believe they are significant issues, but we will see if they can be available.”
Pochettino weighs in on his attacking options.
Meanwhile, Pochettino highlighted the emergence of options in the team’s front line, with Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke making notable contributions.
Pochettino emphasized the importance of finding the right balance in the team, considering the players’ form and tactical requirements.
As the team prepares for the crucial fixture, Pochettino continues to monitor the rehabilitation progress of sidelined players, including Robert Sanchez and Raheem Sterling, while hoping for a swift return to full fitness for the entire squad.
