For years, the Miami Heat have been in contention to sign several top-tier NBA stars, including Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, DeMar DeRozan, Donovan Mitchell, and most recently, Damian Lillard.

Despite these efforts, the team has repeatedly fallen short, leaving fans yearning for a new star to support Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

This summer, once again, the Heat did not secure any major free agents, a decision that left many fans puzzled. However, Heat insider Andy Elisburg shed light on the team’s strategy, explaining that they viewed their trade for Terry Rozier last season as their significant acquisition. According to Elisburg, the early trade for Rozier was essentially their major free agent move for this year.

Rozier, known for his ability to score from all three levels and his playmaking skills, was sidelined by an injury during crucial moments last season. Despite his defensive inconsistencies, the Heat’s robust defense can compensate for his weaknesses, making him a valuable asset. While he may not be the high-profile star fans hoped for, Rozier’s offensive capabilities add depth to the team’s roster.

The Heat’s approach reflects a calculated strategy rather than a failure to attract big names. Whether Rozier’s addition will be enough to propel the team forward remains to be seen, but the Heat management believes in their chosen path.
