Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was arrested and jailed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Sunday.

According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Buggs faces charges of second-degree domestic violence and second-degree burglary. He was held on a $5,000 bond, although details surrounding the arrest remain unclear.

This arrest marks Buggs’ fourth encounter with the law in Tuscaloosa in recent months. On May 30, Buggs turned himself in on two counts of second-degree animal cruelty.

This charge stemmed from an incident in which two dogs were found neglected at a property previously rented by Buggs. The animals, a gray pit bull and a black Rottweiler mix, were discovered on a screened-in porch, surrounded by feces, and without food or water. One dog was later euthanized due to aggressiveness and health issues, while the other was treated for malnutrition and parvo.

Buggs’ agent, Trey Robinson, denied the animal cruelty charges, asserting that Buggs did not own the dogs and was unaware they remained at the property.

“Under no circumstance does Mr. Buggs condone the mistreatment of any animal,” Robinson stated.

In addition to these charges, Buggs was arrested on April 14 following an incident at his Kings Hookah Lounge. He was charged with menacing, assault, and a city code violation after allegedly shoving Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley.

Police records indicate that officers approached the lounge due to an overcrowded parking lot and found 283 people inside the establishment, which has a maximum capacity of 83. A confrontation ensued when Chief Blankley attempted to escort Buggs, leading to Buggs’ arrest.

On April 23, Buggs and his brother were accused of pointing handguns at a woman during another altercation at the hookah lounge. Robinson claimed that these arrests are part of a targeted campaign by Tuscaloosa authorities to undermine Buggs’ business.

A public hearing is scheduled for June 25 to consider revoking the business license of Kings Hookah Lounge. Buggs, who played college football at the University of Alabama and has stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions, joined the Chiefs’ practice squad in January and re-signed with them in February.

Buggs’ latest arrest adds to the Chiefs’ tumultuous offseason, which also saw wide receiver Rashee Rice and offensive tackles Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick facing legal issues.
