Jalen Hale’s return to practice has been a welcomed moment for Alabama football, despite not being expected to play in the upcoming ReliaQuest Bowl.

Hale, a sophomore wide receiver from Longview, Texas, has not seen game action since a knee injury sidelined him in spring 2024. While the Crimson Tide prepares for the bowl game against Michigan, Hale’s presence on the field has uplifted the team.

Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan expressed his appreciation for Hale’s determination and perseverance, saying:

“It’s just been great to have him back out there. Everything he’s been through, the perseverance, the grit, the toughness. The kid loves football. He’s had a big smile on his face. His presence has uplifted everybody around him. We’re just thankful he’s back out there with us.”

During the first practice session in Tampa, Hale was seen running routes and catching passes while wearing a black non-contact jersey and a knee brace.

Although head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed earlier in December that Hale would not play in the bowl game, he was still pleased to see Hale participating in practices.

Hale, who had 148 yards from five catches in 2023, has been a key part of Alabama’s receiving group, and his return to practice, even without game participation, serves as a boost to the morale of the team as they prepare for the bowl.
