Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who amassed 2,834 passing yards and 23 touchdowns last season, played a crucial role in leading the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff in 2023.

Despite the speculation surrounding his potential transfer after head coach Nick Saban’s retirement, Milroe chose to stay at Alabama for reasons beyond football.

In an interview on ESPN’s “First Take,” Milroe revealed that his decision was deeply rooted in his commitment to education. Before starting college, he promised his parents that he would earn his degree within three years, a goal he achieved last December.

Milroe also shared his intention to pursue a Master’s degree at Alabama, reinforcing his dedication to his academic goals regardless of coaching changes.

This commitment to education is refreshing in the current college football landscape. With Alabama remaining a strong contender under new head coach Kalen DeBoer, Milroe is also a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate, highlighting his potential to excel both on the field and academically.
