Jimmy Garoppolo, now serving as the backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, recently shared his excitement about joining his new team while subtly criticizing his former teams: the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
After enduring a turbulent career that saw him lose his starting position three times in as many seasons, Garoppolo expressed relief at finding a team where he feels he can finally be himself. Without explicitly naming his previous teams, Garoppolo hinted at the sense of restriction he experienced in those environments, contrasting it with the more positive and supportive culture he has found with the Rams.
Garoppolo, reflecting on his challenging journey in the NFL, stated:
“This place allows you to be yourself, too, which is different than other places I’ve been. You’re getting pressed with a sense of urgency but in a good way.”He emphasized the importance of a positive atmosphere, saying, “They push you positively. There’s just a lot of good things going on, man. I’m enjoying every bit of it.”

“At the end of the day, it’s your story, and you’ve got to make the best of it,” he remarked.
As Garoppolo prepares for his new role behind Rams starter Matthew Stafford, he will first have to serve a suspension for PEDs. The Rams are expected to rely on Stetson Bennett as their backup during Garoppolo’s absence, though Bennett had a rocky start in the preseason.
