Bayern Munich German footballer Joshua Kimmich
Joshua Kimmich says the culture of changing coaches is not an anomaly in modern football.

Since joining Bayern Munich in 2015, Joshua Kimmich has witnessed a remarkable level of coaching turnover, serving under an array of managers that include Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, interim coaches Willy Sagnol and Jupp Heynckes, Niko Kovač, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, and Thomas Tuchel.

This frequent change in leadership highlights a broader shift within football culture, one that Kimmich believes may not be for the better.

The 29-year-old midfielder reflects on the trend, noting that such instability is becoming more common across the sport, with clubs and their supporters demonstrating dwindling patience.

Kimmich expressed his concerns in an interview with Welt, pointing out that:

“So many coaches in so few years – that is clearly atypical for FC Bayern. However, I think that this seems to be a general trend in football, that coaches are no longer around as long and there is hardly any patience.”

He acknowledged a few exceptions to this rule, citing clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, Heidenheim, and Freiburg, where longer tenures are more common.

Bayern Munich hunt for Thomas Tuchel replacement.

Bayern Munich embarks on another search for a new head coach, Kimmich is poised to see yet another name added to the extensive list of his mentors.

Speculation is rife that Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is in line to succeed Thomas Tuchel, who has mutually agreed with the club’s management to part ways at the season’s end.
