Klay Thompson is leaving the Golden State Warriors after a storied 13-year tenure, signing a three-year, $50 million USD contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Teaming up with Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving, Thompson aims to build a new powerhouse in the Western Conference.

The Warriors expressed their gratitude and hopes to retire Thompson’s No. 11 jersey in a heartfelt statement:

“The joy Klay provided to Warriors fans and the Bay Area is immense and cannot be minimized. His legacy, defined by delivering in high-pressure moments and multiple Game 6 heroics, is eternal. We look forward to retiring his #11 jersey at Chase Center among other Warriors legends. We thank Klay for his immense contributions and wish him success in his next chapter.”

During his time with the Warriors, Thompson was instrumental in creating one of the most formidable trios in NBA history alongside Curry and Draymond Green, tying the championship tally of the famed Spurs trio, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker.

Thompson’s move marks a significant shift in the NBA landscape, with the Mavericks now eyeing a championship run bolstered by their new star acquisition.
