Diego Llorente is set to leave Leeds United for Real Betis after the club accepted an improved transfer offer.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Graham Smyth confirmed on July 8 that the Spanish side’s overnight bid was accepted, with the deal expected to finalize soon.

Llorente, who spent 18 months on loan at Roma, did not anticipate returning to Leeds. The club is reportedly pleased to remove his significant wages from their financial commitments. Real Betis previously had a £5.1 million offer rejected, and although the exact amount of the accepted bid remains undisclosed, it was enough to secure Llorente’s transfer.

Llorente’s departure aligns with the broader exodus of loaned players following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League. He and Rasmus Kristensen, who also played for Roma, were not retained by the Italian club, prompting their return to Leeds. With Real Betis’ new proposal, Llorente is likely to leave Leeds permanently.

The transfer marks the end of a four-year stint for Llorente at Leeds, who initially signed him for £18 million. Although the club will not recoup this fee, the accepted offer indicates Leeds’ willingness to offload the player.
