Leeds United has reportedly declined a £23 million offer from Everton for Italian winger Willy Gnonto earlier this summer.

Despite Everton’s long-standing interest in Gnonto, Leeds seems intent on keeping the player, especially after selling Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, respectively. Gnonto, who had considered a transfer request last August, now appears poised to take on a crucial role for Leeds in the 2024-25 season.

Everton, grappling with financial constraints due to Premier League profit and sustainability rules, tested Leeds’ resolve with their bid, but Leeds, having already made significant sales, are not under pressure to part with Gnonto.

Everton manager Sean Dyche acknowledged the club’s financial limitations but indicated they would continue exploring possible deals.

Meanwhile, Leeds is eyeing Norwich winger Jonathan Rowe as a potential replacement for Summerville, signaling ongoing transfer activity at Elland Road.
