Deniche Hill, the promising Bermuda winger, is determined to make a significant impact at Leicester City after signing a new contract with the Premier League club.

Having missed much of the latter half of last season due to a groin injury, Hill expressed his gratitude and excitement about his contract extension.

“It’s an honor to be given a contract extension at Leicester City Football Club,” Hill told The Royal Gazette. “I would like to thank everyone at the club who continues to believe in me and also thank my family and friends for supporting me during my journey.”

Hill acknowledged the mental and physical challenges he faced while dealing with his injury, which left him concerned about his future at the club.

The 20-year-old worried that his limited playtime might jeopardize his chances of a contract renewal. Despite these fears, his dedication and support system, including his father, former Bermuda forward Corey Hill, helped him navigate this difficult period.

Initially scouted by Leicester City in 2021 during his debut with the Bermuda national team in the Concacaf Nations League, Hill impressed the coaching staff in subsequent friendlies and under-21 appearances, securing his first contract.

Despite Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League in the 2022-23 season, the team made a swift return by winning the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Fully recovered, Hill is now focused on cementing a spot in Leicester’s under-21 squad, with ambitions of breaking into the first team.

“My goals for next season are definitely pushing for a first-team debut and establishing myself as a regular starter for the 21s and hopefully kicking on to be more with the first-team lads and hopefully permanently,” Hill stated.

Hill credits his improvement in play to training with seasoned Premier League players, including those with World Cup experience. This exposure has greatly enhanced his game and confidence. “My ultimate goal is to become a first-team player, whether it be at Leicester or on loan elsewhere,” he added, emphasizing the importance of self-belief and hard work.

Additionally, he values the camaraderie with his teammates and takes pride in being the only Bermudian at the club, bringing a unique cultural perspective to Leicester City.

As Hill looks forward to the upcoming season, he remains optimistic and driven, ready to seize the opportunities his new contract presents and eager to make a lasting impression at Leicester City.
