Marc Leishman, a prominent figure in LIV Golf UK, had to withdraw before the second round due to appendicitis.
Initially performing well with a 2-under 69 in the first round, Leishman was later hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy. Wade Ormsby has stepped in to replace him for the remaining rounds at JCB Golf and Country Club. This marks Ormsby’s third LIV Golf appearance this season.
Leishman addressed his situation on Instagram after being discharged, expressing disappointment but prioritizing health. He humorously noted:
“I came to England with an appendix and will leave without it! Appendicitis is no joke.”
Ripper GC captain Cam Smith, currently in contention, shared his surprise, recalling Leishman’s strong performance despite feeling unwell. Smith, tied for second place, hopes for Leishman’s return at LIV Greenbrier in three weeks.
Currently, Andy Ogletree leads, with Smith and Tyrrell Hatton trailing by two shots. Smash GC and Legion XIII lead the team standings at 21-under.
