Westham United manager, Julen Lopetegui, is aggressively pursuing the acquisition of a proven striker as part of his summer transfer strategy.

Lopetegui, who took the reins at West Ham on May 21, 2024, is focused on strengthening the squad ahead of the new Premier League season, which starts in August.

Following his first signing of 18-year-old Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, Lopetegui is now targeting Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri as his second major summer acquisition.

Reports indicate that Sevilla is eager to offload En-Nesyri before the end of the month to avoid financial penalties, making this an opportune moment for West Ham to secure the Moroccan international.

En-Nesyri, who has netted 73 goals in 196 appearances for Sevilla, previously played under Lopetegui during the manager’s tenure at the Spanish club. This familiarity could prove advantageous for West Ham, as Lopetegui aims to enhance the team’s attacking capabilities with a player he knows well.

The striker’s impressive goal-scoring record, averaging better than a goal every three games, underscores his potential value to the Hammers.

West Ham has been linked with En-Nesyri in multiple transfer windows over the past three years. The club’s renewed interest comes amid Lopetegui’s urgent need to address an unbalanced and ageing squad left by former manager David Moyes.

Securing a reliable goal-scorer like En-Nesyri is crucial for Lopetegui’s plans to rebuild the team.

The Hammers wants to close deal early

The Hammers hopes to finalize the deal within the early weeks of the summer transfer window, ensuring they stay ahead in their transfer dealings.

The proposed transfer fee for En-Nesyri is around £21 million, which could be a bargain for the Hammers considering his proven track record.

Lopetegui’s vision for West Ham includes leveraging En-Nesyri’s strengths—such as his aerial prowess, ability to occupy defenders, and finishing skills—to fit into his tactical system seamlessly.

The Moroccan striker’s potential impact could transform West Ham’s offensive dynamics, providing the firepower needed to compete effectively in the Premier League.
