Manchester City are prepared to accept a bid exceeding £40 million for their goalkeeper Ederson during the summer transfer window, sources revealed to Football Insider.
Despite Ederson’s integral role in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the past seven years, City will not obstruct his potential move.
The 30-year-old Brazilian is contemplating a new challenge and has attracted significant interest from Saudi Arabia.

Ederson, who joined City from Benfica in 2017, has been pivotal in the club’s recent successes, including six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, four League Cups, and two FA Cups.
This willingness to part with Ederson stems from the rise of Stefan Ortega, who has proven to be a reliable alternative. Ortega played 20 matches in the 2023-24 season, securing eight clean sheets and conceding 20 goals, showcasing his capability as a top goalkeeper.
In the past season, Ederson made 43 appearances across all competitions, achieving 16 clean sheets and conceding 34 goals. However, his absence from this summer’s Copa America due to a fractured eye socket adds to the speculation about his future.
Ederson’s contract with Manchester City runs until June 2026, following his last extension in September 2021. Yet, the prospect of a lucrative move to the Middle East seems increasingly likely.
City’s decision reflects their confidence in their squad depth and their strategic approach to the upcoming transfer window. The club continues to focus on strengthening its squad, as indicated by ongoing efforts to secure new midfield talent.
