Manchester United have made a strategic decision regarding Jarrad Branthwaite following the collapse of Everton’s potential takeover by American billionaire Dan Friedkin.

For weeks, Friedkin’s interest in acquiring Everton was well-publicized, but on Friday, it was announced that the deal had fallen through. A statement confirmed that both parties mutually agreed it was best for Everton to explore other options.

This development has put Everton in a challenging financial situation, potentially forcing them to sell players to alleviate financial pressures. Earlier this summer, Manchester United had submitted two bids for Branthwaite, one for £43 million and another for £50 million, both of which were rejected as Everton held out for their £75 million valuation.

Despite these initial setbacks, United may renew their pursuit of the 22-year-old defender. According to The Telegraph, the failed takeover could lead to Everton being more amenable to negotiations. However, it is believed that United are unlikely to increase their offer beyond a total package worth approximately £55 million and have no intention of meeting Everton’s £75 million asking price.

Besides Branthwaite, Manchester United have shown interest in other players such as Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, Adrien Rabiot, and Martin Zubimendi. The Red Devils have already secured the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer.

Upon joining the club, Yoro expressed his excitement, saying it was an incredible honor to sign for Manchester United at such an early stage in his career. He appreciated the clear development plan and support shown by the club.

With these new developments, it remains to be seen if Manchester United will make a final offer for Branthwaite as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
