Manchester City is set to make a significant addition to their squad with the signing of Girona’s standout player, Savio, according to reliable sources reported by Football Insider.

The deal, disclosed by transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke on the Inside Track podcast, sees the exciting winger poised to join the Premier League and Champions League titleholders for the upcoming season.

Savio’s journey to Manchester City comes after an impressive season at Girona, where he has been on loan from Ligue 2 club Troyes.

Over 33 appearances in all competitions this season, Savio has been in stellar form, contributing 10 goals and seven assists. His performance has been a crucial factor in Girona’s surprising push for the title in La Liga.

This remarkable stint was part of a broader trajectory that saw him join the City Football Group network from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in the summer of 2022, for an initial fee of £5.5 million, potentially rising by another £5.1 million through add-ons.

The City Football Group, which owns both Troyes and Girona, as well as Manchester City, facilitated Savio’s move to Europe.

Before shining in Spain, Savio’s talents were also on display during loan spells with PSV Eindhoven and, more notably, with Girona. His performances in Spain not only highlighted his club contributions but also earned him a senior debut with the Brazilian national team, coming on as a substitute in a match against England last month.

Manchester City’s interest in Savio is a testament to their ongoing strategy of identifying and developing young talents within the expansive network of the City Football Group.

As City prepares to integrate Savio into their squad, they continue to contend fiercely in the Premier League, currently sitting third after a resounding 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

With the team just three points shy of league leaders Liverpool, Savio’s impending arrival could provide an additional boost as they look to secure more silverware in the seasons to come.

Manchester City fans will be keenly anticipating the official confirmation of Savio’s signing, as the team gears up for their next match against Crystal Palace.

The addition of such a promising young talent to their ranks underscores Manchester City’s commitment to maintaining their status at the pinnacle of both English and European football.
