Enzo Maresca, the current manager of Leicester City, is reportedly on the brink of being appointed as Chelsea’s new head coach.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea is expected to confirm Maresca’s appointment within the next 24 hours.
Maresca successfully guilded Leicester City to promotion as Championship title winners, has impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy with his managerial capabilities.
Maresca has already engaged in discussions with Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart to outline his vision for the club.
During these talks, Maresca emphasized the need for three key signings: a goalkeeper, a left-back, and a forward. This focus aligns with his plans to implement a possession-based style of play at Stamford Bridge, which necessitates a ball-playing goalkeeper.
Rumors are already circulating about potential targets. The Sun has reported that Chelsea might pursue Burnley and England goalkeeper James Trafford for £20 million.
Additionally, Leeds United’s forward Crysencio Summerville has caught Chelsea’s eye. The Dutch winger, valued at around £30 million, scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances last season, earning him the Championship Player of the Season award.
Maresca has previously praised Summerville’s speed, indicating a high regard for his abilities.
The transfer window buzz is intensifying as Chelsea prepares for Maresca’s arrival and the subsequent squad overhaul.
With Maresca poised to take the helm, Chelsea fans can expect a strategic approach to strengthening the team in key areas to support the new manager’s tactical preferences.
