The Dallas Mavericks are having one of their most impressive offseasons, which began with the acquisition of Quentin Grimes.

To get Grimes, Dallas traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons. This trade brought in a top-tier defender and a promising 3-point shooter, adding youth to the team. Hardaway Jr. had become unplayable towards the end of his stint with the Mavericks, making Grimes a valuable addition expected to be a key rotation player for years.

Following this, the Mavericks signed Naji Marshall and executed a sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson, further bolstering their roster. Thompson is anticipated to be the new starting small forward, complementing Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic with his shooting skills. His presence is expected to address the scoring challenges the Mavericks faced during the NBA Finals.

Despite these strong moves, the Mavericks still have one open roster spot. Filling this spot with a player who meets specific team needs is crucial. Although the new signee may not play extensive minutes, it’s vital they are ready to perform when called upon. Alternatively, the Mavericks might explore the trade market for further upgrades.

In a bold proposal, the Mavericks are considering trading a significant package of players and draft picks to acquire an All-Star forward from the New York Knicks.
