The Miami Hurricanes football team is set to be one of the top travelers in the ACC for the 2024 season, ranking fifth in terms of miles covered.

Scheduled to travel a total of 11,517 miles, the Hurricanes’ itinerary includes both conference and non-conference games spread across the country.

One of their longest trips will be a 3,031.3-mile journey to California on October 5, marking the longest true road game for any ACC team outside of California, SMU, or Stanford. Other notable travels include non-conference road games against Florida and South Florida, and ACC matchups at Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse.

Leading the ACC in travel miles is California, with a staggering 20,660 miles scheduled. Stanford follows with 14,018 miles, while Georgia Tech and Florida State are also ahead of Miami, primarily due to their week zero game in Dublin, Ireland. This Dublin trip alone adds 3,921 miles to Georgia Tech’s total of 12,962 miles and contributes significantly to Florida State’s 13,028-mile total.

Historically, the Hurricanes set an NCAA record in 1979 by traveling over 28,000 miles, including games in the Japan Bowl and various locations across the United States. This extensive travel season ended with a challenging 1-5 record away from home.

Miami’s future travel plans include games at SMU in 2025 and Stanford in 2026, along with traditional ACC road games in 2027. As the ACC landscape evolves, these travel schedules could be subject to change, but the Hurricanes are no strangers to extensive travel and the challenges it brings.
